Needs Assessment & Analysis

Needs assessment is a systematic process for determining needs, or "gaps" between current and desired conditions". The discrepancy between the current condition and wanted condition must be measured to appropriately identify the need. The need can be a desire to improve current performance or to correct a deficiency. It is important to assess the need and determine if there is value in addressing it before moving to the analysis phase.

Analysis is a process that can be applied to many issues inside and outside of our work lives. The performance analysis concept map shown below identifies a minimum of six different categories of analysis that can be used to inform the most appropriate response(s) to an identified problem or opportunity. A properly conducted analysis takes time, expertise and resources and should therefore be planned carefully. This is WPC's core competency.
